Something big coming & wedding sneak peek. March 28, 2011

Sick together. That’s what my husband & I have been. If you guessed we had a movie marathon this weekend, you’d be absolutely correct. Then again, I didn’t really give you much time to guess there, did I? ;)

Since my husband loves the challenge of finding movies I have never seen before, we managed to find at the library (yes, the library! free movies & $20 in our pockets vs. blockbuster. Who doesn’t like to save money, be lame & go to the library? …Oh. Only us, apparently.) these movies: The Shawshank Redemption, Matchstick Men, Firewall & the Star Trek movie (never having seen the show). Now, if you go saying I missed out in my childhood – I’ll tell you I didn’t. I may have missed out on some awesome movies (you can also count in: Jurassic Park, I am Sam, Forest Gump. I know, what kind of childhood did I have, really?), but my family was busy living in other countries, like Mexico, & so I had an awesome, rare childhood (my dad’s company moved us around a lot) that I can look back on & love! It’s allowed me to have already seen so many cultures in my short life so far, have some amazing & crazy memories (how many people have hangglided over Rio De Janeiro?!), be fluent in spanish (almost necessary when you live so close to Miami. Not that it’s all you hear in Miami – just 95% of what you hear.)* & look forward to traveling someday with my husband  :)

I guess I’ve left you in suspense long enough. The big news is that I’ll be moving my blog soon! Getting a new link & even better-lookin’ blog. I’m hoping for tomorrow…we’ll see if I can manage that or not  :) In the first blog post on the new blog, I’ll also be putting up the pictures from a beautiful wedding in Key Largo that I second shot with the Churchill’s two weekends ago. Here is my absolutely favorite shot from the wedding…

*Random fact: I also like to use way too many parentheses. (Just because.)

Happy Monday! :)

Leesa + Matt. January 22, 2011

So, the workshop! It was amazing. Such a good, friendly group of photographers. And we all just sat & tried to absorb as much of what Ray Santana & Kenny Kim were telling us, and not miss a bit. I learned so many awesome tips! After, we went out to apply what we’d learned in a model shoot of a bride & groom. Other than the one I already put up in my previous post, following are my favorite pictures.

Meet Leesa & Matt. Models, not really getting married. They were so much fun though together!

We were at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel in Miami.

One of my favorites:

Meet Leesa: so fierce!

Meet Matt:

Okay, I gotta put up more of Leesa…too beautiful!

Another of my favorites:

So, as we were taking the pictures, we would check out each others, and I felt kinda unhappy with what I was getting. It seemed like all the other photographers in the group had better gear: a better camera body & awesome lenses. The photos on their screens looked better than what I was getting.

It also didn’t help that I had the wrong type of lens for the shoot.

I am a bit happier with my photos now…though still far from being pro photographs! :) But I would really, really like to get some better gear! Okay, sorry, I won’t put you through anymore of my pining for amazing yet expensive lenses (#hinttohubby #bdayscomingup). Moving on.

Feel free to leave comments about the photos, whether ya hate or love them, constructive criticism to help me improve, etc. I appreciate it! :)
